Beyond Star Wars... Together with my team, we have recently developed two groundbreaking software solutions designed to work either within a holographic pyramid or on a traditional LCD screen. The first software operates with six degrees of freedom and enables real-time interaction—without the need for glasses or headsets—using only a standard webcam. As the user moves their head, the perspective of a photorealistic 3D render dynamically shifts, revealing the depth and spatial qualities of the environment. Why should we limit ourselves to static, classical renderings? We now have the ability to let our eyes explore architectural spaces in motion. Our system is unique worldwide: shadows and lighting on translucent 3D materials adapt fluidly to the observer’s position, creating an unprecedented level of realism and immersion. This technology has also been proposed for the Windeshausen jewelry store in Luxembourg in the form of a 3D hologram. In collaboration with M. Tonon, we designed an interface allowing users to interact with the hologram using any smartphone, simply by scanning a QR code. The smartphone then becomes a virtual controller—users can move it in space, and the 3D model responds accordingly.
